The People of Derby
Cathedral
There are many
people behind the successful operation of Derby
Cathedral.
There are the clergy who conduct the
services, both the big celebrations and the
small acts of worship, and are also responsible for the
pastoral needs of both the cathedral's regular
congregation and the occasional visitors.
There
are the staff of the cathedral, the
vergers whose job it is to assist in the
planning and smooth running of the services and
to manage the life and worship of the cathedral.
They are assisted by a team of dedicated
volunteers, the people you will first encounter
as you walk into the building.
There
are the musicians: the choirs, the
organists and the Master of Musicians. Their
prime function is to enable and assist those
attending the services to worship God. They do
so in a beautiful and artistic way, using their
voices to the glory of God.
There are those who staff
the gift shop and café. Like
many cathedrals up and down the country, Derby
Cathedral has a place of
refreshment and a shop The people who staff the
shop and café
play a vital role in furthering the mission and
ministry of the Cathedral by supporting it
financially, not to mention providing a place
for all the people of the Cathedral to eat and
drink! |
